DROP JUMPS

Drop jumps are a submaximal plyometric exercise that emphasizes lower leg stiffness. The goal is to have a fast rebound off the ground with minimal knee bend and ultra-short contact times in order to activate the elastic energy return of the catapult effect. Studies indicate that a pre-activation of stabilizing muscles in the legs triggered prior to ground contact that instinctively protects the athlete’s feet and ankles from impact.
